Federal University Lafia (FULafia) was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria on the 9th of February, 2011. The University took off in 2011/2012 academic session along with the Library as part of academic structure from the take-off site. The Library has its functions and structural organization put in place to enable it to achieve its Vision and Mission in line with operational rules governing every Nigeria University.
Prof. A. O. Iyoro is a Professor of Library and Information Science and currently the University Librarian, Federal University of Lafia. He is a man of honour and integrity whose indelible marks in the field of Librarianship cannot be set aside. In fact, he has recorded tremendous impacts in the lives of many upcoming academics.
He is a graduate of prestigious Bayero University, Kano where he obtained his first degree before proceeding to the Premier University of Ibadan to acquire two Masters Degrees at different period. He however ended his educational career at Babcock University after obtaining his PhD in Library and Information Science.
Professor Iyoro is widely published and has in his kitty the record of numerous local and international conferences attendants, while he is happily married with children.

The Federal University of Lafia Library took off in 2011/2012 academic session as part of the University’s academic structure at the take off-site. The Library has its functions and structural organization put in place to enable it achieve its Vision and Mission in line with operational rules governing every Nigeria University.
At inception, the Library was headed by Mr. Martins Ikhekhai a Chief Library Officer who was on sabbatical leave to kick-start the Library between 2012 and 2013. At the expiration of his leave, Mr. Olumide Johnson Akanmidu assume duty as acting Head of the Library, been the most Senior Librarian in the Library at that time up to June 2015. Finally, the first substantive University Librarian was appointed, and she is Dr. (Mrs.) Rebecca Ape who served from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2020 while the incumbent, Prof. Abiodun Olaide Iyoro, officially took over the mantle of leadership from July 1, 2020.
The University Library started with about three thousand, five hundred and seventy-one (3571) collections which comprises both books and journals all of which were all donated while the Library as at then have the capacity of accommodating 76 users.
The Library started with three (3) Units namely: Circulation, Technical Services and Serials Units. The University Library was eventually moved from the take-off site to the main Library complex at the permanent site, in preparatory for the first academic accreditation exercise of the University in 2015.
Thereafter, the Library has since remained at the purposefully built Complex named after the first Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia, Prof. Ekanem Ikpi Braid.
